It’s National School Breakfast Week! This morning at Happy Hollow Elementary, Mayor Molly Rawn officially proclaimed this week National School Breakfast Week, recognizing the important role school breakfast plays in student success.

Since the start of the 2025–26 school year, every Arkansas student eats breakfast at school for free, helping ensure all children start their day fueled and ready to learn!💜

Fayetteville Public Schools’ annual District Art Show is now on display at the Fayetteville Public Library! We loved seeing students and families enjoying the artwork together at the reception, featuring over 140 pieces from Kindergarten through 12th grade.

The exhibit highlights the incredible talent of our students and the inspiring work happening in our Visual Arts classrooms across the district. You can view the collection in the McIlroy Hallway near the Event Center until April 6th.

Be sure to stop by and celebrate the creativity and talent of our amazing young artists! 💜

Happy Hollow Elementary has chickens! 🐔 Students have been exploring the fascinating world of eggs, learning about incubating, hatching, and caring for them as well as different breeds. They discovered the difference between fertilized and unfertilized eggs and practiced being calm and careful around them. A great way to learn about life and responsibility!

Hey, Hawks! PTO’s Spirit Shop has new Happy Hollow apparel for the 2024-2025 school year. The deadline to order is next Friday, September 6th. There are a few designs and colors to choose from including our 2024-2025 shirt, “Think Outside.” We’ll hear more from our team regarding our “Think Outside” theme in the near future, but it is more than just a fun school theme: It reflects the unique outdoor setting of our school and the instructional mentality of our team. Hawks, it's time to "Think Outside." https://youtu.be/Jgvna7r2xoc

Meet Kristi Sams. Ms. Sams is a familiar face at Happy Hollow. Last year, she served as a long term substitute in kindergarten, and she crushed it. A long term substitute position is essentially an extended job interview, and she shined. Each and every day, she built and earned the trust of her teammates. It was clear to Mrs. Thorn and I, too, that Ms. Sams is a special person and teacher, and she was the perfect fit for an open position in kindergarten. She's made an impact at Happy Hollow, and we are thankful to have her back in kindergarten this year. Ms. Sams is a fantastic addition to our school. Don’t just take my word from it. I interviewed some of her kindergarten students today during snack, and here’s it what they had to say: “I like that she’s always patient for us.” “I like it when she lets me play playground.” “She is super nice.” “I like lunch.” “I love Ms. Sams.” “She is really nice and really fun and really good teacher.” “She is good teacher.” “I like the classroom. School is fun.” Welcome to Happy Hollow, Ms. Sams!

We are excited to introduce Emmy Mitchell as our newest 1st grade teacher! A recent graduate of the University of Arkansas, Mrs. Mitchell completed her internship experience here in Fayetteville Public Schools. The principals at her elementary internship school sang her praises and said “she’s the intern to grab before another school gets her!” Mrs. Mitchell LOVES the cappuccino chunky chocolate ice cream at Braums and gymnastics is her favorite Olympic sport to watch. When it comes to children’s books, she enjoys talking with students about Junie B. Jones and reading aloud anything by Kevn Henkes. During her interview, her passion for teaching students to read and love books shined bright! We also saw her love for early elementary students, big heart, and organizational skills. After the interview, each committee member completed a ratings sheet. The shared the following observations: “Very positive” “She seemed sweet and bubbly!” “Happy to be here. Technology savvy. Came very prepared.” “Very organized, prepared, articulate, sweet and calm disposition.” Mrs. Mitchell is going to be a wonderful addition to Happy Hollow and we’re excited for all the students we know she’ll build relationships with and grow! Welcome to Happy Hollow, Emmy! –Nicola

Meet Madelynn Baumhover. Ms. Baumhover is joining our 3rd grade team at Happy Hollow. Prior to becoming a Hawk, Mrs. Baumhover taught in Bentonville. If she's watching the Olympics, she is most likely watching the 400m relay or the 100m sprint. Her favorite ice cream is chocolate chip cookie dough. When Ms. Baumhover interviewed at Happy Hollow in the spring, she was able to show the team who she was as a teacher and person as she shared various examples of student work. She geeked out over each piece of student work, making personal connections to her students and excitedly sharing details within the work about their growth. After the interview, each committee member completed a ratings sheet. Below are their comments: "Absolutely amazing in all areas." "She was a 10/10!" "Phenomenal!" "Amazing!!" In short, she is awesome. Mrs. Baumhover is a student centered teacher who is going to crush it at Happy Hollow. We are thankful to have her on the team. Welcome to our school, Mrs. Baumhover! --Josh
